The delicate flavor of nutmeg flavors these crisp, light cookies.
Mix buttermilk and soda then let stand. Cream sugar and butter then add eggs. Add baking powder to 1 cup flour and mix alternatively with butter milk solution. Add vanilla and nutmeg then add enough flour to make a workable dough. Roll out 1/2 inch thick and cut with a round biscuit cutter. Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 5 minutes. Remove and place under broiler until tops are just browned. Cool on wire rack then store in air tight container.
