Rocky Road Brownie Gifts from a Jar

Homemade gift jars filled with ingredients to bake delicious cookies, brownies and bars make great gifts.

Ingredients:

• 1 cup sugar
• 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
• 3/4 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
• 1/2 cup all purpose flour
• 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1 cup miniature marshmallows
• 1 jar rocky road brownie mix
• 1/2 cup butter, melted
• 1/4 cup buttermilk
• 1 egg
• 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

Layer all ingredients, except marshmallows, attractively in any order, into 1 quart food storage jar with a tight fitting lid. Pack ingredients down slightly, adding another layer. Place marshmallows in a resealable plastic food storage bag and seal bag. Use marshmallows as final layer in jar. Cover top of jar with fabric and attach gift tag with raffia or ribbon. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease an 8 X 8 inch baking pan. Remove marshmallows from plastic food storage bag in jar and set aside. Place remaining brownie mix in a large bowl. Add melted butter, buttermilk, egg and vanilla then stir until well blended. Spread butter evenly in prepared pan. Bake 25-30 minutes or until set. Sprinkle with reserved marshmallows and bake 3-5 minutes or until marshmallows are puffed and slightly melted. Cool in pan on wire rack.
