Carnation Pound Cake

This pound cake has a velvety texture that is unbeatable. Prepare this for any occasion.

Ingredients:

• 2 sticks margarine, room temperature
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 3 cups sugar
• 5 eggs
• 3 cups sifted cake flour
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 1/2 tsp baking powder
• 1 cup undiluted evaporated milk
• 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Directions:

Cream together the margarine and shortening until fluffy.  Add eggs one at a time beating well.  Scrap sides and bottom of bowl to make sure mixture is well blended.  Add dry ingredients together and pour alternately with evaporated milk into mixture and beat until smooth.  Add vanilla.  Beat in well.  Pour into a greased and floured deep (10x4) tube pan or deep set 9 cup bundt pan.  Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour or 1 hour and 15 minutes until a cake pick inserted comes out clean.
